Powder Keg

Vishous:

-Time was ticking, I knew what was doing around me and what it meant the longer I waited for an opportunity to escape. The seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours, my strength was slowly draining out which meant I had one good shot at hauling ass from this place with minimum use of my strength… and it all came down to just the right time. Saving what was left of my energy to pull a trick from George’s hand playing dead for the assholes in the room. “… he’s out cold…” “Ye’d better be sure, Throe.” “Just move your arse before he does come to.” “I need to be able to mark his wrists. Take that… off his hand.” “Not until he’s locked back down…” the voices fade in and out…two I’d come to know well joined by a third new voice, hanging in my iron prison, diamond eyes darting behind closed lids as I strained to listen to the movement around me, stretched limbs screaming at being freed after so long when I feel the first of the bands holding my arms open with a clang, my hand dropping like a lead weight, jarring my shoulder until I had to swallow back a yelp of pain that would have given me away. My whole escape plan depended on the seconds when I would be freed from the cage and moved for the vermin that Ione had hired to brand me with slave bands. Gametime. My head rolling on my shoulders, I went limp when the second band sprang open and the two bastards lifted me out, feet dragging loosely over the dusty floor to the makeshift table, letting them hoist me onto its surface, falling back with a heavy thud. My stellar performance earning me the distance I needed from the males that have grown to make a sport out of bleeding me almost to death. There was movement to the side of the table… counting the footsteps…the clock of Throe and Zypher’s boots circling me, straining to hear the softer steps to my right, punctuated by the hushed tear of paper and the metallic clink of needles. “I think it’s safe.” The voice of the tattoo artist shook, in spite of his words. “He might look like a side of beef now, Cael but, don’t ever fucking assume you’re safe with this one. Unconscious or no, he’s still the Bloodletter’s son.” That’s right, assholes… and you’re going to see how much like him I really am. There was more than one reason for me to survive this shit, not only do I have my brothers but now… fucking father of two youngs and mated to the strongest and sexiest female I have ever known. Once again thanking my shitty past for giving me the self-control required to live through this and much more with a minimum movement and emotion. Fueled by the image of my female and our son, I’d held on this long, conserving my waning strength for this one moment… feeling my arms moved into place, picturing the juxtaposition of the table and its own iron bands… crucified… seems to be the fate of the young of deities, tamping down on the bitter laugh rising, I snapped to focus when cold iron closed over my forearm, securing one and then the other, an eternity passing while the males argued over who would free my cursed hand for the artist’s needle. “Just do it, for chrissake. And make it fast.” With a loud exhale, the lucky contestant stepped around, keys jingling and sliding into the lock that held the lead ball closed, the click of the tumblers and then the weight was gone, listening to the retreating steps. That’s it… back up… peering through slitted lids, to watch the males through blood-crusted lashes, ignoring the pain in my weakened arm as I pulled back, millimeter by millimeter, snagging the cuff of my glove on the band and beginning to work it down my palm, trying to peel the leather back from my skin. It was now or never.-

Against the Clock

Vishous:

-The rustling midnight sheets tease me awake in more than one way, the light breath of my female brushing against my heated. My lips curl into a wide smirk and I refuse to open my eyes just yet for I knew what was to come, her lips would touch every inch of my shoulder then up to my neck where she would suck over the vein that lay just under the skin. Almost as if she could feel, taste my blood. I always loved that coming from her, the soft swells of her breasts brush against my arm before I curl it around her body to pull her closer to me earning a delighted squeal from her lips. “I love my alarm clock, leelan” she laughed, so carefree and loving, with that little undertone that told me exactly what she was thinking while her hand roams down my stomach and… still moves lower. I bury my nose in her hair to catch a her scent mingling with the my own dark spice and I smile as I kiss the top of her head. Soon, her delicate hands close around my length while the scent of my bond fills the air and I open my eyes to look at the female I love. Her dark chocolate eyes churning with the depth of her love even after all this time together and I tilt her chin up so I can capture those luscious lips in a passionate kiss. Our breathing starting to change as the heat between us increases, the soft innocent turning eager, seeking more than we would ever say, joining us in an ultimate act of carnal union that would join two incomplete pieces into a perfect whole. Then, something changed. Her moans of pleasure turned to whimpers of pain, instantly the bonded male in me panicked and I pulled back with terror clouding my diamond eyes. The sight was enough to drain the blood from my face. My female’s skin turned ashen, stretched taut over her gaunt face,  reaching for me with a weak hand as pale fingers gripped her shoulder. “I have to go.”  Terrified, I searched the space behind her,  my gaze widening on someone I never believed I’d see again pulled my shellan from my arms, a lithe form in white, red hair billowing like flames around her, a cerub-faced young folded into the crook of her arm. Wellsie… no… NO! Frantic, my hand reached to take Jodi back and found nothing but air. –I don’t want you to go.- Tears glistened in her sunken eyes. “I don’t want to leave you.” Eerily familiar words lingered in my ears as Tohr’s shellan pulled my reason for being toward the door, heavy oak swinging open letting daylight spill into our mated room. “Please, leelan, I can’t… I won’t live in a world without you” Desperate, I leaped from the bed to stop them as the door is thrown wide and the full force of the cursed fucking fireball hits me, and I drop to my knees on a guttural scream, the stench of my smoldering skin filling my nose, the pain of my searing flesh nothing compared to the spearing agony that cleaved at my heart, my anguished bellow snapping me awake to a fresh world of agony-

Zypher

-He grinned smugly as he watched from across the room. Xcor had a way with things, the branding iron was no exception. Absently he rubbed a long healed salt rubbed scar across his chest..a present from their leader. A reminder of who he was and what he was put here for.- You've got him on his knees mine commander...now..make the son of a bitch beg. I bet 'es too proud t' do it.

Xcor

-The screams wrought from the white eyed Brother brought him neither satisfaction, nor enlightenment. He'd divulged nary a scrap regarding the demanding questioning undertaken thus far. He turned to the fiery coals once more, thrusting the iron back through the blistering heat to begin anew. Returning to the bound warrior. Bent, but nay, not broken. Not yet. His hand shot out, twisting into the Brother's sweat dampened hair to pull his head back with a snap. Baring his own set of lethal fangs, scarred face twisted in disgust as he lowered to come face to face with his captive.- It's said ye can read minds, listen in where no other belongs. -He grinned darkly as his eyes bore deep into the warrior's own glowing irises as he spat...- Read mine, Brother. Know well ye won't be findin' escape inta the Fade. Ye'll be callin' fer yer mahmen long b'fore we be through 'ere. -Releasing the hair, shoving the Brother's head back with a jarring motion, he bypassed the irons in favor of running his rough hand over the rudimentary table of items procured for this mission. Hovering over each, thick fingers close around a razor sharp, wickedly thin skinning blade. Lifting it to catch the light, turning it this way and that, he nodded once to Zypher.- We'll be seein' if he values what's left of his manhood, 'nuff t'find his way to the words we be seekin'.

Ione

What is this? [my voice barely contained as I pushed open the door, lavender eyes narrowing at the scene before me. I surveyed the males, rage rising up to constrict my chest as much as my corset did] I told you he was to be left undamaged! [stepping in, the door slammed behind me with a metallic clang and I stalked over to the battered warrior, shoving Xcor and his minion aside and reaching through the bars to touch the charred wound on his chest] Your connection within the Glymera is already in place for my departure as agreed. Destroying my property was not part of that arrangement so, I trust you have an explanation for this or I’ll be collecting my payment now, information or no. [touching my fingertips to Vishous’s jaw and turning his head to survey the damage, weeks of growth darkening his goatee into a full beard streaked with blood and grime, talking over my shoulder to the two males] These wounds had better not be permanent. [turning his chin, breath catching when his icy eyes open to pin me with a lethal gaze] So you’re awake...slave.

Vishous

-Reality hits like a ton of bricks, pushing away the dream-haze with searing agony. The scent of burning flesh filled my nostrils at the same time the pain registered through my battered body. I was a roadmap of seeping wounds and blackened bruises that had quieted to dull throbs as I tried save as much of my waning strength reserves as I could, not even reacting to the blade gleaming in Xcor’s hand, his already ruined face twisting in impatient anger. Then I heard her. Growling low in my chest, I could barely rein in the instinct to rip her apart.  Even her name had me seething, her sadistic self-indulgence had put the whole race at risk. And for what? So she could get into my leathers? Frigid bitch. Without conscious thought I flinched at her touch, a barely noticeable move but her voice… I opened my eyes to level a look of pure hated at her, her word holding an undertone of delusional puppy-love. She actually prized her possession. Well, la dee daa. My eyes glowing murderous fury, acid-dipped words flying from bloodied lips- I've seen females go to serious trouble to get fucked but this one goes in the record books, bitch .– despite an attempt at indifference, her face fell in hurt. A low chuckle coming from beside her momentarily distracted me from the offended aristobrat, the Bastard holding the branding iron amused by the exchange while Zypher’s lecherous gaze roamed over Ione, jerking my head toward him. – Something funny, dick weed? I’m not sure what’s hurting me more right now, Xcor’s face or your stench.  –my throat burned the hoarsely barked words-

Zypher

-Growling silently, he slid the bowl of salt behind a box, hidden from the female's view- of course he will heal...eventually. -Zypher watched as the Princess assessed the brother and laughed darkly at the title she gave him.- He's stubborn..prideful..and in need of more beating but we can both be satisfied here soon I believe if you'll just leave us -he looked to Xcor- to our devices and trust the males you've hired. We won't let you down..highness. -He didn't stop his gaze from rolling up her long legs and over her rounded arse-

Xcor

-Bristling as the tiny female's hands pushed him aside, a black growl rolled through his broad chest as her words ricocheted around the room as sharply as a thousand poison tipped arrowheads. His hands curled into meaty fists as thick arms drove them into the table, cutting off the pacifying words of his Bastard- Ye've delivered upon yer word, Princess. We will deliver on ours, given ye find yerself clear o'this place t'allow us t'find the answers we seek. Aye, your pet appears damaged... -waving a hand dismissively- all will be well, and healed, by the time he's delivered unto you.

Ione

[ignoring the narrowly hidden barb of Xcor’s tongue, I stepped back from my caged prize, my eyes searching his with a dark smile] You could end your suffering, Vishous. Give these soldiers what they want and the pain will end. You have little to live for anyway. Why do you resist? The Brotherhood? They have ceased looking for you. They believe the Lessoning Society has taken your life. Your female? You needn’t worry for her, she’s not long for this world. I’ve seen her with mine own eyes, warrior. Your female is with young, and dying. It is over and you are mine. I need only have you branded with the bands of a blood slave and we will take our leave of this tiresome place. [my fangs drop down, barely concealed behind my lips at the idea] I always get what I want. [still watching Vishous, I speak over my shoulder at the two hovering behind me.] My patience wears thin, Xcor. I am sending someone to mark him. You have until tomorrow evening to get the answers you seek. You will have him prepared and restrained.

Vishous

You fucks must get off at the sound of your own voices.  –my voice gravelly, wincing at the hunger pangs gnawing my gut, my diamond eyes flick up to Xcor- With your face, it’s probably as close as you get to the real thing, huh? –laughing darkly, the sound cut off at Ione’s words, my blood running cold in my veins. It was the nightmare all over again, realization prickling the hair on the back of my neck. The sting of the Brotherhood barely registered for I knew better, with my brothers believing that my ass was on the line there would be no rest. It was just not fucking happening, as much as they knew I wouldn’t open my trap I knew they wouldn’t give up. But my female, my female… fuck. The nightmare had left me too raw for a comment like that and with the flickering handle I had on my curse I played back the image of Wellsie leading Jodi away. Ione wasn’t lying, my female was pregnant. And I knew what that meant. The feedings, the hunger, the weakness. Fuck, I had to get out of here. Fucking. Yesterday.

Zypher

-Zypher crossed his arms over his chest, determined to keep his damn mouth shut. It didn't take two times for Xcor to remind him who was in charge and he had learned from experience that silence could save your life. He couldn't stop the smirk however as the wounded brother flinched at the mention of his pregnant shellan, perhaps that was the way in. He would use this if he could..as he was sure Xcor would-

Xcor

-He nodded once to the female, rolling his shoulders, itching to return to the questioning before the diamond eyed warrior'd had any further recovery time- T'will give us ample time t'garner what we be needin'. He shall be cleaned and trussed fer your takin', princess. -He stepped forward, towering over her. His scarred face barely concealing the expression of contained impatience and irritation as his chin kicked toward the door.- Now, ye'll be excusin' us so we may get back to the task at hand.

Ione

Until tomorrow. [holding my ground, I looked up with barely checked annoyance and returned the curt nod.  I straightened my shoulders and turned toward the exit, Louboutins clicking across the filth-covered floor.] Intact, Xcor. He is of no use to me broken. Physically anyway. [ I had waiting this long. One more night was of little consequence compared to the lifetime I would enjoy with Vishous as my possession. Casting a last glance at the male in the cage and the two brutes circling him, I stepped over the threshold and let the door ease closed behind me.]

Vishous

-With a longing look, the bitch queen left, the possession ringing in her stoking a burning rage in me. I’d be her fuck toy when the Omega sprouted wings and a halo. My diamond gaze fell on the two males that circled like vultures, hooded eyes burning with the promise of much pain to come. I let my head hang between my shoulders, bracing for the torment to come…a seemingly endless cycle of agony and repetitive questions that I’d managed to tune out so far by reciting the Sox line-up beginning with 1901. This time, however, as the routine began anew, my focus was on the words of the aristobrat. Her lackey would be here tomorrow and that would be my one shot before I was on a boat back to the Old Country as a carnival ride for Ione. I was getting the fuck out of here. For my female and our family. I flexed my gloved hand in its iron prison. And God fucking help them all when I did -

Flesh and Blood

Jodi
*Three weeks. Nearly three weeks since anyone had seen my hellren. I’d neither slept nor eaten, the fear churning in my stomach leaving me too nauseous for food and the little I did eat left my stomach long before check out time. I fought to keep myself together for Sahv but even his new fascination with crawling did little to keep him engaged. The lack of sleep was taking its toll, though I hung on every word, every ring of the phone, my heart shriveled a little more every time I saw Butch’s worry worn face peer into the nursery to give me an anguished shake of his head when he returned from the night’s search. Inevitably, the sun chased all the brothers back to the compound and like always, Butch was the last one to come home, waiting until the first orange rays peeked over the horizon before giving in and even then Rhage often had to haul him through the door by force. My empty stare settled on the pillows that marked Vishous’s place in our mated bed, the dark silk covers tear-stained and wrinkled from endless nights of clutching it in place of my male in a frail attempt at soothing my fears with his lingering scent. My eyes snapped up from the bed at a sharp cry, Sahv’s wail piercing the oppressive silence of the pit. I took the few steps to his bassinet in an instant, his face flushed, satiny skin gleaming with a cold sweat. Scooping him up from the blanket, I instantly felt the heat radiating from him. Fever. “Jodi, I just came to check on…” Rhage froze in the doorway, aqua eyes widening at the panic written all over my face. “What’s wrong with him?”* I don’t know. He’s hot…fuck, he’s burning up. I have to get him to Havers. *Rhage nodded once and checked his phone, fingers flying over the keypad. “I’ll take you.” He stormed down the hall, trench billowing behind him as I hurriedly dressed my squalling young and gathered his bag, following Hollywood’s hulking form out to the GTO to find he’d already moved the car seat from the Escalade. Ducking into the back, I made quick work of snapping him in, crawling into the seat next to him, leaning in to croon softly, stroking his damp hair back from diamond eyes that had reddened with tears. Nervously watching Rhage in the rearview, his face drawn and stern with worry, the engine of the GTO roaring as if in complaint at having to be reined in for the safety of the young within. After an eternity, the wheels screeched to a halt in the parking lot of the clinic and I fumbled with the button to release the belt on the car seat, Sahv’s cries now quieted to a heart-wrenching keening as Rhage plowed through the front door sending nurses scattering in his wake. Nearly running to keep up with his powerful stride, I finally stepped around him to reach the registration window, my voice half-plea, half-demand* Please, tell Dr. Havers that Vishous’s shellan must see him. *my voice cracked even saying his name, his absence still leaving a raw-edged hole in my heart* Our son is sick. Please…  *I must have looked nightmarish, my presence having garnered the attention of all in the nurses’ station, including that of what I assumed to be another patient waiting at the far side of the counter, her lavender gaze intently fixed on me and my young, the payload of jewelry adorning her flawless skin screaming Glymera. Assured that care was coming, I glanced a final time at the female and let Rhage guide us to a seat, grateful for the brother while he stood over us, a living Greek statue of powerful perfection standing barrier between my son and anything that would harm us. Nervously running my dagger pendant along its chain as I watched the other patients, not allowing myself a full breath until another nurse motioned us into the back, my legs feeling like lead carrying Sahv into a bland gray exam room and laying him on the table to begin undressing him as she’d instructed, just finishing when Havers entered.*

Ione
[That was Vishous’s shellan? Only breeding kept me from laughing out loud, though the more I looked at she and the young in her arms, the less like laughing I felt, incredulous amusement quickly replaced with bitter jealously as my gaze wandered to the child’s face to linger on eyes that were a perfect reproduction of Vishous’s own. These two were why he’d refused me? And still did, despite being caged and beaten like a fighting dog by Xcor’s thugs? My fingers curled into claws under the edge of the counter watching the nurse escort them through the corridor of examination rooms, tucking a file under my arm I paused a moment and followed, not so close as to be suspect but wanting to know more of this female that the warrior had chosen over me. My pride demanded it.]

Jodi
*worriedly watching Havers look over my son, while Rhage barricaded the door with his hulking form, Sahv’s cheeks puffed red and streaked with tears while he wriggled under the pokes and prods of a strange hand and squeaking faintly when the cold chestpiece of Havers’s stethoscope finally pressed to his feverish skin. “Heart rate is normal and his lungs appear clear.” Poking a finger into Sahv’s bowed lips, he winced slightly when his effort was rewarded with a sharp bite. “Ah, his upper central incisors have broken the gum line.” Pulling his finger back, he shook it absently. “It is not uncommon for youngs to develop fevers with emerging teeth. Occasionally, the temperature can be quite high. It is nothing of concern. The nurse will provide you with something to control the fever until it passes.” His eyes narrowed thoughtfully behind his spectacles. “Forgive me for saying but, you look unwell yourself.” “She has for weeks.” The silent brother finally spoke from his corner of the exam room.* I told you, I’m fine. *Scowling at Rhage for holding me in place, my temper soothed only by the now calming young in my arms, his fever dropping with the minutes that passed since an overly pleasant nurse had come in loaded down with liquid ibuprofen for Sahvage.  “You’re not fine, Jodi. Far fucking from it. You’re not holding down food, you’re white as a sheet and your eyes are so sunk in you look like you went 5 rounds with Joe Louis.” Rhage jerked his head toward Havers, his trench crinkling at the elbows as he folded his massive arms over his chest. “Let the good doctor see what’s doing. Vishous would never forgive me for not looking after you while he’s gone. The cop either, for that matter and I don’t want my balls in a vise.” Narrowing my eyes up at him, I gave a curt nod to both males, sending Havers darting out into the hall.*

Ione
[My fangs glinted in a grin of sadistic delight. The subcreature was ill. How sad. I hoped it was serious. Chronic, painful and fatal would be wonderful. I could already picture the defeat in Vishous’s diamond gaze when I told him that all the reason he had to deny me was rotting in damp earth. Laughing behind my hand, I leaned into the door, glaring lavender daggers at passing staff that stared too long at me as I strained to listen to the voices on the other side, heels clicking on the vinyl flooring as I duck into the neighboring exam room when Havers stepped out into the hall, calling for a nurse. “Ehlena? Could you come in here with a blood draw kit? We’ll run some tests just to be sure. Please, wait a…” The door closed again, just to open when the strawberry blonde nurse hurried inside and emerged a few moments later with the crimson-filled vials.]

Jodi
*watching the clock as the minutes ticked by, irritation rising with the sweep of its hands until the nurse returned and handed Havers a folder, presumably containing the results.* Let me guess, nothing there. Exhaustion, anxiety… My hellren is missing, I’m sure you’re aware so I would believe both of those are normal under the circumstances.  Can I go now? *Saying the words out loud was a knife to the heart, each syllable another turn of the blade. I was anxious to return to the pit, to resume my vigil in the nursery where I would wait for news of Vishous from his brothers as they checked in for the night. He adjusted his glasses on his nose and scanned the forms, his brows arching as he looked pointedly up at me. “I’m afraid your condition is not so simple, Jodi. It is understandable that you should be thinking little for yourself, but show some concern for the young you’re carrying.” I blinked. And blinked again.* Something’s wrong with Sahvage? You said he was fine. *my heart hammered in my chest as my stomach rolled, looking fearfully down at my son, now fast asleep.* “Sahvage is well, Jodi. I refer to the young in your womb. You’re pregnant.” He eyed me warily and I could almost hear the disdain in his voice. “About seven weeks I’d say. You’re also anemic. Your last pregnancy came with… cravings, did it not? You fed from your hellren?” I nodded slowly, shifting Sahv in my arms and absently fingering the pendant at my collar.* I.. yes, I did. *wincing, I remembered the cravings with painful clarity. And I meant that literally, I’d put off feeding from V as long as I could, until I was doubled over with cramping hunger, every time earning a scolding from my male for fighting the new biology of my pregnancy.* But, Vishous isn’t here, Doctor. Can’t you just give me pills or…? *The question trailed off there. What was I expecting him to do? “I will prescribe an iron supplement. Assuming this pregnancy is as your last, you will have to feed. For your young. You must make arrangements with another male…” Shaking my head, I backed toward the door, my tightening grip earning me a squeak from my snoring son.* No. You’ve lost your fucking mind, doctor. I won’t have someone else feeding me, or our child. *Rhage stopped me at the door, pinning my shoulders with two giant hands. “You have to think of the young, Jodi. Listen to him. We’ll find someone. Fuck, I can talk to Mary…” My eyes prickled with tears at what he offered, he and his shellan’s desire for children manifest in the concern marring his perfect features.* Rhage, I can’t. I just.. can’t. There has to be another way. *shoving past him, I opened the door in time to see the violet eyed female scrambling into an empty office, prepared to make a dramatic exit when Havers’ voice called over my shoulder, stopping me in my tracks. “He may not come back, Jodi. Not in time. You have to prepare for that. I am speaking as your physician when I say that if you do not find an alternate blood source, Vishous could lose you. And your young.”

Bastards - 1, Brotherhood - 0

Ione

[The days of waiting had me feeling on edge. Being so close to having Vishous as my own left me restless, anxiously watching for the timing to be perfect. To abduct a warrior of the Brotherhood was no small feat and if a mistake would be made in the act, it would not be mine. The last of the subcontractor’s left the clinic, electrical wiring finally in place in the new wing and awaiting the security connections needed to add to the already installed system. Perfect. Purring low in my throat, I set off down the hall to seek out Havers for this last, knowing full well that Vishous had been waiting for his call, insisting on doing the work himself. Finding him peering over a clipboard near the nurse’s station, I cleared my throat to get his attention.] Dr. Havers? The new wing is completed sufficiently for the security system installation. I could call my own people… [He shook his head and reached into his pocket to flip open his phone, fingers flying over the numbers and greeting the voice on the other end. “If you would be so kind, Vishous, we are prepared for the wiring in the new addition.” He nodded at the response, his pleasantries grating on my impatience. “An hour then.” He closed the phone and smiled, his eyes gleaming behind his glasses. “Vishous will be here shortly.” Thank you, Doctor. I am pleased that the expansion is going so smoothly. [Turning away, I hurried down the hall to the office I’d been using, opening my own phone to call Throe] It is done. One hour. [Nothing more and nothing less need be said, I snapped the phone closed and made my way outside, clearing sight of the front doors and dematerializing to a thicket of trees that hugged the road leading to the clinic. Minutes were hours…but, he would be mine. Soon.]

Throe

-He closed the cell phone and smiled. Things were finally on the move. If the information given by the princess proved to be correct, then Vishous would be in their hands before this night ended. Getting up he went to inform Xcor that they were ready.-

Vishous

- It seemed like the work around the compound would never end. If it wasn't the constant battle against the lessers, it was the damn running against the bastards, and, of course, we can't possibly forget the run-ins with the civilians and duties as the tech expert of the brotherhood. Lately, I'd been working on the renovations for the Safe House and the clinic, which had found a new financial provider in the Glymera. At least, the fuckers were spending the money well. I was working on the new passwords for the security of the Safe House when I received Havers’ call. Curt words were exchanged and it all had been arranged. I would be there shortly to make sure the Hospital had a security system to my liking, wrap it all up in a few hours so I could return to my female's arms. I got out of the office and went to the nursery where I knew Jodi would be. Sharing some time with our young, whose growth could be now measured and appraised. Fuck me. The sight I walked it would forever be branded in my heart and soul. My female on the ground holding our young in the air, making cooing sounds and playing with him. She looked up at me when I stepped inside- I have to leave for Havers’ now, the building is up for the new security system.

Jodi

*squealing young frozen in air, I turn to you with a bright smile, narrowly avoiding a chubby fist to the face* We'll be waiting, nallum. You'll be home soon?

Vishous

- I kneel down and grab Sahv's hand, looking into your eyes- A couple of hours at most, it shouldn't be that hard -kissing my young's hand-

Jodi
*nods, leaning into you* I need a kiss before you're allowed to leave. *grins* Make it good. It has to last me 2 whole hours.

Vishous

- my lips curl into a full blown fangy smirk- This oughta be good - I close the distance between our lips and give my all to the kiss. My tongue quickly slipping between your parted lips for a passionate kiss that was meant to leave you breathless-

Jodi

*squeaks, nearly knocked off balance by the force of your lips on mine, melting into the kiss for a long moment and pulling away, my cheeks flushing deep crimson* Get going, you. *shoves at your chest* We'll pick this up when you get back.

Vishous

- fangy smirk- Can't wait, female mine - I kiss your forehead and Sahv's before I stand to leave. The walk to the Escalade fairly uneventful, as I text the cop to let him know where I'm at. Gunning out of the compound heading to Haver's clinic. -

Xcor

-Squaring mountainous shoulders as his boots tread heavily across the wooden floor, he stares darkly into the eyes of his two swiftest and most cunning Bastards. Knowing full well that tonight would be their best, and most likely only, shot at capturing the white eyed Brother cleanly. Ione would have her prize stallion, but only after we'd wrung every ounce of information from him first. By any and all means necessary. Clasping his hands behind his back, his fingers closing around the well worn handle of his lover, he addressed them together- T'night ye'll be taking the key to this fucking rat hole of a city. There'll be no mistakes, no errors in judgment, and no fucking off, am I makin' m'self clear? -Leaning in close enough to nearly brush his forehead against those of the Bastards leading this attack, his breath hot and dry against their faces in turn.- Personally, I could give a fuck'all if Ione survives this night, although it'd do us well to retain the glymera contact. What I'm after isn't what's between the female's legs.. -He snarls pointedly to Zypher before continuing- No. What I want is what's 'tween that Brother's ears. Every. Fucking. Piece. -He straightens once more, pacing slowly before the pair.- Ye'r stocked fer the attack, aye? -Nodding to the affirmations.- The time is nigh, my fellow Bastards. -Turning from them to close his hand around the door handle, he stopped dead for just a moment, speaking over his shoulder.- And mind ye well. Either one of ye cocksuckers fuck this up, better neither of ye return here. -Giving a low rumble of a vile chuckle- Ye'd do well to make damn sure I'll never lay eyes on either of ye again.

Zypher

-nodding to Xcor, taking in the not-so-hidden meaning behind his words- No fuck ups. No diversions. –glancing to Throe- After you asshole -waiting while his comrade scatters to the wind, and then quickly doing the same.-

Balthazar

*Smirking at Zypher as he takes his dressing down from the man in charge, Xcor, I throw the duffle over my shoulder and demat to the pre-arranged location and make ready. Resting the muzzle of the long rifle against the wooden spy in St. Mary’s bell tower, my eye glued to the scope, finger at the ready. * Fighting and killing Lessers, although rather enjoyable has become a tad boring. Finally…finally with taking down Vishous, our plans for taking over have come to fruition. The Brother’s reign ends tonight with just one pull of a trigger. Pushing the transmit button on the Walkie-Talkie,* Ground control to Major Tom, commencing countdown, engines on. Locked and loaded and ready to roll. *My finger caresses the trigger like a perfect set of breasts, but unlike a treacherous female, my rifle is every ready and faithful. Too bad that were reduced to using horse tranquilizers tonight, instead of the hallow points I suggested at the meeting with the Princess. Outvoted once again, here I sit, ready and eager to put a hurt on our enemy*

Vishous

-following the winding roads that lead to the clinic, mind already ticking off the things that need to be wired... tucking a hand-rolled between my lips and fishing for my shiny new lighter, grumbling under my breath- Never did find that fucking thing -eyes dropping to the sound system to crank the volume-

Ione

[scowling at the scurry of wildlife around my feet, I snap my head up at the sound of a fast-approaching engine, my heart racing at seeing the looming outline of the giant black SUV, taking a cleansing breath and dematerializing into its path, my eyes locked on the form behind the steering wheel.]

Vishous

- Eyes blinking at the form that suddenly appeared in my path, breaking me out of my reverie - What the fuck?! - Swerving sharply, narrowly missing it and trying to maneuver the SUV as it hits the dirt shoulder but failing to completely miss a cluster of trees off the road. Pissed beyond belief, I get out of the car, slamming the door shut and stalked towards the female, my rage rising with recognition- What the hell are you doing, Ione?

Ione

[Holding my ground under Vishous’s verbal lashing, I leveled a gaze up at him, turning into his towering silhouette.] It seems to be the only way I am able to get your attention, Vishous. You are not an easy male to find. A problem that this should rectify nicely. [Chancing a sideways glance into the trees, I lift a hand to tuck a wispy curl back behind my temple.]

Balthazar

*Right on cue Ione does her little… look at me; I’m a helpless female routine, throwing herself in front of Vishous’s Escalade. And a predictable as the brother is, he actually stops to help her. Personally, I would have run her ass over, then back up to do it again. But that’s just me. Never did cater to the Glymera types. Their females always did rub me the wrong way. Standing there thinking they were better than me, while I would stand there knowing they weren’t. We all piss and shit the same way, no amount of money can change that fact. The Princess tucks her hair behind her ear, signaling me it’s a go, as my finger squeezes the trigger, hitting that white eyed fucker square in the cheek of his leather clad ass.*

Vishous

- I growl in frustration at her bullshit antics, I was starting to regret ever saving her ass. My diamond eyes glow in anger and I open my mouth to reply- Get this through your fucking head, you Glymera wh... -a sharp sting stops my words and the world tilts, the ground rising like a fucking space shuttle as the world goes black and I hit the asphalt with a sickening thud-

Zypher

-Watching the arrogant bastard face plant into the asphalt was a thing of beauty. Running from his place of concealment he prepared to grab the Brothers legs and get him off the road to the waiting pre-placed Mercedes as fast as possible. Seeing Balthazar take form he grinned- hell of a shot there. Now take his arms and let’s get him out of here.

Throe

-After checking to make sure that the Brother was in fact unconscious he slid into the driver’s seat of the Escalade and restarted the engine. Quickly slamming the large machine into reverse and flipping it in a tight circle heading back the way the Brother had just come. Intent on taking the automobile as far away from the city as fast as possible. Grinning at how easily things had gone, just let the rest of the Brotherhood try and track them. He felt like the first volley in an all out war had been served. Score Bastards 1 Brotherhood 0.-

Ione

[flinching a little when Vishous crumples in a heap of leather and sinew, hesitantly nudging his thigh with the toe of my Louboutin and grinning over at the males, tiny fangs glinting in the moonlight] Excellent shot indeed, Balthazar. [Flicks my gaze to Zypher] Remember our agreement. You are not to damage him. Take the information you need and then prepare him for travel to the Old Country. I will be checking on him, you understand. I must be assured of my terms.

Zypher

-Struggling with the dead weight of their new captive he flashed his most winning smile at the Princess- Our agreement will be honored to the letter, and I will be looking forward to your coming to check on him often.

Balthazar

*Dematting to where Vishous is doing his planking impression, I nod to Zypher and sneer at the Princess and her empty praise. I bend at the knee and place my hands under V’s pits and hoist as I grit out* Fucker sure is heavy. *making quick work of placing the Brother in back of the waiting, Mercedes G-Class, I put it in gear and head to the warehouse.*

Ione

[inclines head, casting a last lecherous look over Vishous and smoothing my skirts as the car squeals away before dematerializing back to the Clinic to keep up appearances, already making travel arrangements for myself and my new prize.]

Strange Bedfellows

Ione

[The doggen cowered back as I my fist came down on my father’s desk, the rush of air sending papers scattering like leaves on a breeze. My growl echoes in the expansive study, sending the meeker ones scrambling out the heavy oak door. Contracts and blueprints, permits and designers.  Money and time spent in infuriating limbo in the sterile office belonging to Havers at the clinic and not a sign of Vishous. My temper flared and my hand shot across the desk, sending a crystal decanter flying into the far wall and exploding like a gunshot. Useless. Wasted. Perhaps this was not the way to the warrior that plagued my thoughts. But, I would find one.]

Zypher

-Stepping from the void of nothingness as both bastards materialized at the end of the drive, Zypher looked to the home of Ione. and nodded as he felt more than heard Throe materialize behind him- this is it...this is where Vishous brought the little princess...this is where she threw herself at his head. -He did not stop the nasty smirk- Throe

Throe

Materializing next to Zypher on the cobbled drive he was feeling wary at being in this neighborhood. Once, very long ago all this finery had been common place. Manicured lawns, spectacular architecture.. now it was just whitewash over the corruption that lie just beneath the surface. The aristocracy gave him hives.-

Zypher

-Sensing Throe's apprehension, he said nothing as he headed boldly down the drive, not bothering to conceal their presence. If this worked there would be no need to hide, the Band of Bastards would have an open alliance with the Glymera and thus..could take the throne. -Glancing over his shoulder briefly before he raised his fist to knock, he mumbled under his breath- smile ya bastard..these are your people. -He grinned as he knocked, knowing that would get a rise out of his fellow soldier-

Throe

-Following behind as it appeared the direct approach was Zypher's way of making contact. Shaking his head, at the arrogance of his comrade knowing they were so not going to be welcomed was visiting royalty, more like common vagrants which they more closely resembled in their fighting gear. Standing tall regardless and willing to let Zypher make his play in his own way, unless things went south.-

Ione

[railing until my frustration is spent, I screech at a brave doggen that had withstood the onslaught of my fury, pointing to the pool of shards on the floor] Clean that up and bring me another decanter. With a glass. [Watching him slink away to do as I’d bade, I hear the sharp rap from the entry, followed by the ratlike scurry of a doggen toward the door. “The mistress is indisposed….I understand but… yes, yes of course. Friends of the departed Master Donall are indeed welcomed here…” I rolled my eyes and smoothed the stray locks that had come free from their pins during my rampage, taking a seat in the oversized leather chair. “Mistress Ione? Two gentlemales have arrived, bearing condolences at your father’s loss.” Oh, for…] Send them in.

Opportunity Knocks

[Days. It had been days since I’d seen Vishous. My determination to see him again grew with every tick of the grandfather clock in my father’s library, finding myself increasingly annoyed by the constant interruptions of life in the Glymera. Something had the current Princeps agitated and as much as I would usually enjoy watching the prissy male rail impotently at meetings, I had larger concerns. About six and a half feet worth of concern, to be precise. I licked my lips and ran my tongue over a tiny fang as I paced the long hall of the estate house, thoughts briefly lost to how it would feel to take his vein while he took my body. Shivering at the thought, I rounded the corner and hurried down the stairs, the hour on my diamond crusted Harry Winston telling me it was nearing my appointment time with Havers. I’d come to loathe this particular farce but it seemed a necessary evil to keep up appearances with the rest of the aristocracy who seemed to absolve themselves of their generous financial positions by participating in various goodwill acts for the race. I rolled my eyes at that. What it truly was, behind the façade of benevolent good intention was a self-imposed penance when they had a twinge of guilt over being rich. My father had believed in similar flagellant rituals and I’d been expected to maintain them even after his death in the form of benefactor, offering regular monetary contributions and visits to the race’s clinic. Wasted money and time, in my thinking. The restrictions of life in Caldwell chaffed and I was already making enquiries to return to the Old Country as soon as the remainder of Donall’s estate was settled. Readjusting a pin in my chestnut coiffure, I curtly ordered the doggen to bring the car, my impatience worsening my already volatile temper. Striding across the foyer and out through the colonnade, I ducked into the waiting Mercedes, watching disinterestedly out the window as we drove to the clinic. I’d been back to the Trade Street bar since Vishous had returned me to my family home. Discreet inquiries made amongst the few females I’d known who’d admitted to having served the warrior in the past had proved fruitless. None had been called upon since he’d taken a shellan. A human shellan. Jodi, she was called. My fangs dropped reflexively, hissing at the very idea that a human would be worthy of a male such as the Bloodletter’s son. Those stories had traveled from the Old Country as my family line had, visceral tales of calculating cruelty and violent carnage so abhorrent that they were sometimes still used to scare young into their beds. In fact, they’d become prevalent again. Rumors of a rogue band from the Bloodletter’s training camp had come to Caldwell had abound adding fodder to the Princeps’ already dubious view of the newly ascended king’s rule. Wrath had barely had time to take the reins as ruler and now the Glymera was clutching their collective pearls at the implications of this new force to their fortunes and their way of life. Simpering fools. And Havers was one of them. My mirthless laugh faded as we arrived at the front entrance of the clinic, lavender eyes flaring at the sight of two towering figures in black leather lumbering through the front doors before me, carrying a third. All but scrambling from the back of the car, I hurried in after, as gracefully as my layers of skirting would allow. I stopped short as both in a sort of synchronized move, turned to sweep the gathering of patients within the bland waiting room. Piercing aqua eyes met mine for a moment and turned back to the desk. The other male paid me little mind, his face hidden behind a curtain of multicolored waves that spilled over his massive shoulders as he spoke urgently to the nurse, obviously trying to obtain care for the unconscious civilian male in his arms. Not Vishous. But clearly warriors. I informed the nurse at the desk of my arrival, milling as close to the males as I dared without attracting their attention.  I managed only clips of the words, snapping to attention at one in particular I’d been longing to hear. “…ambushed in an alley off Trade. Vishous and Butch are on their way with one more…” I nearly purred. He was coming here. I started at a smooth voice behind me. “Mistress Ione. How good to see you.” Straightening my shoulders, I took Havers’ proffered hand, casting a last glance back at the warriors now stomping out through the lobby.] Indeed, Doctor. I am pleased to be of help, as always. I wonder if I couldn’t discuss with you some ideas I had for expanding your facilities. [I suppressed a laugh as his eyes lit up like those of a young at their first Apple Festival. “Expanding? Of course, I’d be delighted. Please, let’s discuss this in my office.” I gave him a blinding smile and let him lead me through the double doors and into the corridor behind.] There is much good yet to do here, I think, Dr. Havers. And it would much please me and my father’s memory if you would let me oversee it personally. [As he babbled about additional rooms, testing facilities and the latest innovations in lab equipment, I couldn’t help but offer a thanks to the Scribe Virgin for my good timing this eve. If the warriors came here, they would come back. In the meantime, I would gather what knowledge I could from Havers’ files on the brotherhood. I would find what I needed to make Vishous mine.  I absently rubbed my thumb over the gold lighter hidden in my skirts.  All I need do is wait.]

Fascination Street

Vishous

-A frigid wind cut through my leather jacket as we stood guard in the darkness of the nearby alley. I stroked a thumb over the bracelet on my wrist, a wide band of leather embossed with a single word on its steel clasp. ”Always”. My shellan’s vow stood for me as well and as long as the threat of the Bastards loomed over my family and my brothers, I would always come back to hunt these streets, night after night until I found and destroyed those who would seek to hurt them. The chill of the early spring was nothing. In our decades of stalking the darkened streets of Caldie had toughened us to damned near anything, from bad weather to the lowest forms of humanity that crossed our paths in our nightly hunt for the enemy. The cold kept us focused as diamond eyes scanned the darkness, my mind chewing over the earlier events of the evening. Things weren’t getting any easier in the constant power struggle between the glymera and the rightful king. Add the new arrivals and you had one big clusterfuck waiting to happen. Our natural enemies had changed their tactics, as had we and not even the death of the most recent Forelesser would stop them, it would not be long before another one of the Omega’s bitches won the buttboy lottery and assumed control of their growing army. To say Jodi’s run in with Throe had me on edge was the understatement of the century, her in-passing mention of his good Samaritan behavior doing fuck all to change my mind about what I knew of the male and the shift in his demeanor when he saw my son didn’t help his cause. Nor did the seemingly innocuous line of questions he’d thrown at her. They had no business being here, last I heard they were back in the Old Country taking what they thought was rightfully theirs for the “services” they provided to the race. Something had to have brought them here. Xcor was a thug but he was shrewd and ambitious, traits cut into his hide under the ruthless eye of the Bloodletter. Wrath needed to hear this. Now.

Barreling through the heavy oak door, my abrupt appearance in the study was met with a nasty glare, no less intense for being under those wraparounds. “You’d better have a damned good reason for nearly taking my door off the hinges, V.” “I do, my lord.” I stalked over to the giant French desk and laid out what I knew, sparing no detail of my shellan’s run in with the male, pale green eyes widening almost imperceptibly behind the dark lenses, the following seconds of silence broken as he grabbed his phone, barking at the voice command to send a mass text to the other brothers. <The study. Now.> One by one the brothers and the kids poured into the study to settle in their spots for the briefing. This time I took Tohr’s place at Wrath’s side facing the gathered warriors. My gaze leveled at each of them before I spoke, five simple words that would change the game on the city streets. “The Bloodletter’s bastards are here.” No one moved. My bitter words went unanswered, hanging in the air like acrid smoke. “Throe approached my female… she was with MY young” My gloved hand instinctively dropped to the Glock in my holster, my growl barely contained in my rage. I watched as first confusion then realization dawned on my brothers’ faces. This was a threat we didn’t expect, not now. At once they started to talk, growl and curse, snarled threats echoing off the walls of the study. Only Wrath, Tohr, and I kept quiet at the outburst. Tohr waited for the thunderous din of roared outrage to subside, leveling his navy gaze across the desk at Wrath. "I'll reorganize patrol areas and pairings. No one goes out alone..." He turned his eyes to me. "...especially you." The rest went unsaid...with Throe having gotten so close to my family, I was itching to bury my dagger in his jugular. I clenched my teeth and nodded once, a tic working my jaw as he spoke again. "Until we find Xcor and the others, the females should remain at the compound. The bastards just became priority one. We know now it's them leaving bodies all over downtown and we don't need that kind of attention from Caldie's finest.” Butch snorted, knowing full well that DelVecchio was already starting to piece the crime scenes together. Grumbles and stiff nods agreed to the orders given by the second in command, there was no room for discussion and it was the best course of action. We all knew this. Still we hungered for the kill of the new threat. It gnawed at me that I had not put it all together and that it took the exposure of my family to one of those males for us to realize what was doing right under our fucking noses. My eyes found Butch’s, the intensity of his hazel gaze showed me that he knew exactly what I was thinking and that there was no fucking way we were letting those assholes take over what was not theirs. Most of all, if the female of the security freak came across one of the Bastards, what could they expect for their own mates? The bonded males in the room had a difficult time coming to terms with this and with the knowing looks I got I knew they were not about to let that go unanswered. When it came to our shellans, as in all things, the Brotherhood was a united front.  SafePlace would be my next move after tonight’s patrol, it needed new and improved security like yesterday.Tohr laid out a recon plan, pulling out a dog-eared map of the city and marking where Jodi had seen Throe, followed by the locations where eviscerated lessers had been left to give the CPD something to scratch their collective heads over. The brothers would begin the search there, moving outward to scour the surrounding area for possible daytime shelter for the bastards.  For once, the godforsaken fucking fireball was an advantage. Xcor and his soldiers needed someplace safe and they wouldn’t have been too picky about their accommodations. Tohr hadn’t pushed to keep me off of rotation, my face contorting in a mask of rage when it was suggested. No fucking way was I being benched for this one. That primitive prick had been a breath away from my shellan and son and that, friends and neighbors, was not fucking flying. Christ, he could have… I squashed the thought and rubbed my gloved fist over the center of my chest. I needed to get back on the street ASAFP, schedule be damned.  As it happened, even deviant prayers are answered and I scored the first patrol with Butch at sundown. As the brothers filed out I pivoted on my heel and followed, mental gears already turning on the specs of my private little counter-offensive. My fingers caught around the door to pull it shut as Wrath’s voice carried into the hall. “V! Hold up.” Fuck. I turned and glanced around the threshold ‘Yes, my lord.’ Wrath dropped a hand to stroke George’s fur, the retriever’s tail making a muffled thump against his calf “Watch your ass and stay tight. I’ve known you too long to not know what you’re thinking.” My lips drew a thin line ‘I thought I was the resident mind reader here, my brother?’ “Fuck you, you know what I mean. Don’t get cute out there. We’ll find them.” His voice lowered. “They won’t get near them again, Vishous. Not as long as one of us is breathing.” I blinked and swallowed hard, inclining my head in assent and stepped into the hall, letting the door close behind me with a soft click. The cop and I had left the compound in complete silence. It was something we were not used to but given the current sitch hanging over our heads the usual banter wasn’t even crossing our minds. My hands tightening on the wheel just thinking that the Bastard had dared to breathe the same air my shellan had, my young… my family. I heard the cop heave a breath “Relax, my man. We’ll find them, true?” Nodding at his words, there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that we would catch them. After all I was in charge of intel. The city zoomed by as I pushed the engine of the Escalade weaving through traffic, the sooner we got downtown, the sooner I could hunt down those fucks.A couple of curses and creative hand gestures later, we stashed the SUV down a dark frontage road close to where Xcor had left his last bloody calling card to scout for lessers and soldiers alike. Whole or in pieces, didn’t really matter. The cop was already on his feet scanning the area with eagle-eyed precision. I was right beside him palming the grip on my Glock waiting for his spidey senses to kick in and give us a direction before we tried the old fashioned way. Sniffing the fuckers out wouldn’t be difficult it just would take much longer. Suddenly, he started trotting south and I was hot on his heels, the blaring sounds of the night life on this side of town did nothing to take our focus off the task at hand but helped disguise our footfalls as we made our way down the next street. The cop came to a stop two blocks over and I skidded to a halt behind him, his wide eyes scanned the area while his nostrils flared at the sickening sweet scent that hit him like a bucket of iced water. His eyes narrows as he went still, the vampire equivalent of a hunting dog pointing out game. He gave me the nod and I dematerialized to the roof of a flanking building, stepping over to the edge so I could look down at the cop hastily walking to the mouth of the narrow street. The pounding beats of from a nearby club a glaring reminder that we weren’t alone, civilians of both species were oblivious targets if the cop detected lessers nearby. Railed up and ready for more I find myself jumping from building to building to keep up with Butch who is now running full speed which could only mean… before I could even think about it the wind changed and the sweet powdery scent filled my nostrils. The cop stopped when he was close enough and turned to look up at me in a silent go ahead to scope the sitch. As stealthily as possible I closed in on the direction we were headed and caught two lessers walking towards a secluded alley, my lips peeled back to expose my elongating fangs… perfect, I thought. I disappeared from my post and took form behind the cop, his weapon drawn and snapped around to level it at me in a knee-jerk reaction my approach. Palms raised, I walked closer to the cop until he could see me, blowing out a breath and lowering his gun. “Tell me we got something, living and kicking preferably” he asked as his hand flexed and relaxed on its grip. “Got a couple of lessers, looked like they were waiting for something” I crossed my arms, my lips pressed into a tight line “Could have a couple more joining in the party” He nodded and popped his neck before he turned to look in the direction of our prey. “If we take them now we might have a better chance of dealing with all of them on our own, true” My lips curled into a smirk, the cop and I in tune as always. We wanted to take care of this without backup, the more the merrier. I pulled two daggers free of my harness while I nodded in agreement “Fuck yeah, let’s get a move on” and with that we were off, running as fast as we could sticking close to the crumbling brick edifices for cover.-

Ione

[The pungent smoke inside the club burned in my lungs as I pushed through the crowd, the walls seeming to throb with a heartbeat of their own that matched the pounding tempo of what was passing for music in this particular hedonistic haven, looking anxiously over my shoulder…the nagging feeling that I’d been followed persisted even after I’d taken refuge inside the club and shoved my way to the bar, the silvery burn of my martini doing little to soothe my jangled nerves. The unease was putting a damper on my search for entertainment, the appreciative glances I was garnering received with a disinterested roll of the eyes. Too polished from their Ferragamo loafers to the collar of their Armani shirts. This type I could find within the Glymera by the dozen. A female of discerning tastes, my palate sought something… exotic. Pushing away my empty glass, I stood and threaded through grinding bodies to the rear entrance, stepping out to clear my head with the cool night air while I considered my next hunting ground.]

Vishous

-We covered the last block in seconds, fingers twitching around the hilt of my dagger at the prospect of pounding pale meat into the ground until a blip hit my radar, the steel door closest to the lessers flew open, the small figure of a slender spilled into the alley in front of them. The smelly fuckers had been well trained... we watched them wait in the shadows for the door to close so they had the perfect opportunity to attack. Mother. Fucker. Collateral damage had not been in my plan for tonight’s festivities. I hissed at the cop “Go head on, I’ll grab the female’, with that I dematerialized at the same time the lessers took their first steps out of the shadows toward the civilian, calling out in a lewd drawl. “Hey doll, we were looking for you”. I took form next to the female the moment the cop whistled loud to catch their attention “Yo, you looking for a date, pretty boy?” the lessers were obviously new, their skin and hair not yet fading to sickly pallor. The Omega had been busy, if the number of new recruits we’d come up against was any indication,  hulking masses of muscle that could more than take a hit but still riding the BS invincibility sales pitch the Forelesser had blown up their asses.-

Ione

[Lavender eyes going wide with panic as the pallid monstrosities bookended me, barely gathering breath to scream when a massive form appeared beside me, a giant in black leather that molded to the corded muscle now coiled for attack. Ducking behind the male, I peered wide-eyed around a thick shoulder and quickly darting back behind and gripped the thick hide of his jacket, molding myself to his wide back and squeezing my eyes shut, lips moving in silent prayer to the Scribe Virgin that I be spared this night.]

Vishous

-My body shielded the now shocked female cowering behind me, reality of the threat had kicked in and sobered her up in seconds. The lessers had now drawn weapons of their own, one of them snarled back at Butch “Wanting to join the party, princess? We’ll be glad to take back more heads than we had anticipated” The other turned to face me, apparently two big ass motherfuckers was not a deal breaker. I poised for battle, making sure I still have the female out of the fuckers sight, one of my hands free just in case while the other held the black dagger tightly. Butch didn’t even budge “Princess? Nice one, but I’m not the one that smells like the inside of their grandma’s purse.” Through with the verbal foreplay he raised his piece and fired, hitting his shoulder and making him stumble but that was good enough for Butch. He leaped into action with his dagger in hand so the lesser barely had time to straighten up before the massive body tackled him to a nearby dumpster. That was all I could catch before my diamond eyes focused back on the lesser that had slowly advanced, taking advantage of my apparent obliviousness. The female, however, had taken that moment to step closer to me and clutch to my leather jacket which trapped me in place giving me no room to move. Great. Just.Fucking.Great. I straightened up as the lesser started playing with his knife…cocky fucker…but, I was a out of his league even with the clingy female at my back. “If you hand over the girl I will let you go easy” grunts and howls of pain came from across the alley, my smirk baring my fully extended fangs “Interesting choice of words” I flicked the dagger in my hand with incredible ease, showing my dexterity even with the impairment in my movements “but, I prefer the hard way. Call me old school.” He made his move and I crouched, my arm snaked around my back holding the female close to my body as I slide to the side tripping the lesser as he lunged. The movement made the female behind me gasp, her too sweet scent mixed with the even sweeter scent of the powdery fucker nearly gagging me the lesser lumbered by, trying in vain to avoid hitting the wall face first. Startled, she dropped her hold on my jacket and I took opportunity to launch myself at him, my shoulder ramming him in the ribs with a crack that sent him stumbling back when the impact had shook him to the very bone. Dropping back into a crouch I threw the dagger, my smirk growing wider with the satisfying scream when the blade sank into his throat. He blindly swung his own weapon, the blade slicing the air inches in front of me. I pivoted on my heel in a move that would have made an NFL hall-of-famer jealous, narrowly dodging the blade. From the corner of my eye I saw the female scrambling for cover, her frantic flight would bring her right into the path of the lesser’s flailing blade. Fuck. Me. Taking a running lead, I drop-kicked the male sending him flying back to smack into the asphalt with a loud thud, his howl of pain a hollow echo carried through the alley. The instant he hit the ground I was on top of him, grabbing my dagger and burying it in his gut, watching the inky blood drip from his mouth in ebony ribbons as he squirmed and torqued against the flaring agony. Drawing it back, I raised my arm once more and let the dagger fall, the blade sinking into his chest with a pop and flash, sending him on an express ride back to the Omega. Barely giving him a second glance, I wiped my dagger on my thigh and holstered it before walking back to the wide-eyed shivering female.-

Ione

[Shrinking back against the rough brick wall, unblinking eyes locked on the carnage before me, palm held tight to my chest as if I could quell the pounding of my heart, my daze broken by the sound of heavy footsteps, looking up to face the warrior walking toward me, the rush of terrified adrenaline turning to heat that settled between my thighs as I cataloged every inch of him. Sweet Scribe even covered in the oily sludge of lesser blood he was mouthwatering.]

Vishous

-She stood shaking with a hand clutched to her chest as she watched me close the distance between us, my brows knitted in concern at her deer-in-headlights look, wondering if she’d gone into shock. Her wide violet eyes were glazed, long chestnut hair framed her heart-shaped face in chaotic curls, highlighting her flawless porcelain skin. It was obvious she was out to flaunt what was God-given, barely wearing a form fitting gown that clung to her lithe body like a second skin, its silver sequins reflecting the greasy neon lights of Caldy's bar district in raying prisms, glinting off of her like a mirror ball... or a beacon. I turned to look for the cop and found him standing over a writhing body, about to pull his vacuuming act, I sheathed my blade and tried to get a response from the trembling female.- Hey -She didn’t seem to hear me so I stood closer and lowered my head so that I was eye level with her. -Yo, female, you ok?- I snapped my fingers in front of her eyes trying to break her apparent fear-induced paralysis.-

Ione

[I shake my head, taking a calming breath and smoothing the wrinkles from my dress, clearing my throat before speaking] Yes.. I uh.. I am fine, this was just… [Speech left me as I met his eyes, perfect crystals glowing in the dim alley]

Vishous

-Her words trailed off as she looked up at me, the intensity of her stare making me twitch. She shivered and I let out a long breath, taking off my jacket and offering it to her. Shaking my head, I spoke up before she could gather her thoughts.- You got a name?

Ione

[Taking the offered jacket, I fold it around me, inhaling deeply the rich spicey scent the leather carried,  blinking to clear my thoughts enough to answer] I am Ione, daughter of the Princeps…

Vishous

-Glymera. Fucking perfect. I cut her off again not interested in any deets that wouldn’t help get her off my hands.- Are you ok? You here alone?

Ione

[I paused to mull this over. I was certainly alone before and now had no wish to be, seeking to extend the company of this warrior for as long as I could, the proximity to him making my legs tremble as I took an unsteady step toward him, losing my footing on the cracked asphalt]

Vishous

-I opened my mouth to tell her to demat and frowned as she wavered, nearly stumbling.- Woah, there… -I dropped a hand to shoulder to steady her.- We’ll get you back, true. Where’s your place? -Guiding her away from the alley she rattled off the address in a shaky voice as she weakly shook off my hand. “I’m perfectly fi...” The sentence went unfinished as her legs gave, dropping her like a stone.- Oh shit -Stepping forward, I reached out and pulled her into my arms before she could hit the ground. Fuck. Just what I needed. I swept her up and draped her limp form over my shoulder. Her scent hit me and my nose scrunched in response. The cloying perfume of lilies clouded the air, subtle as a heart attack and far too sweet, it conjured images in my mind of graveside floral arrangements.- Pit stop to make, my brother… -Butch grunting in answer and crouched over the twitching lesser. “Right behind you.” Shitkickers pounding on the asphalt, I led us back to the Escalade, the cop bringing up the rear, weakened from absorbing whatever putrid essence the Omega piped into the lessers in place of their souls. I went for the back door and opened it, stooping down to lay her across the seat when she groaned and fisted my shirt. Oh, this was just getting better and better. Letting out a frustrated growl, I maneuver us both in to the back and close the door behind me. The cop raised a brow at the female clutching my shirt like I a lifeline and lumbered into the driver’s seat. The engine roared to life and wove through the darkened streets as I pinched the bridge of my nose and tried, in vain, to put some distance between the clingy female and myself. Having someone other than my shellan this close to me was giving me the scratch. Ione was curled into my side tight as a tick, her knuckles white where she gripped the hem of my jacket. I stared out the window increasingly agitated at the body stuck to mine like white on rice. Miles sped past; the sketchy high rises of Trade Street exchanged for middleclass brownstones until we reached the outskirts of town, the bourgeois of suburbia giving way to sprawling palatial estates. I muttered under my breath- The princess returns to her castle… -Butch snorted and we stopped at the call box mounted on the filigreed iron fence to announce our cargo, the gate swinging open with a groan to allow us passage.-

Ione

[Hearing the crackle of the intercom, I let my eyes flutter open, frowning in annoyance that the drive had gone so quickly. As unseemly as it may be perceived, I was loathe to give up my place on the male’s lap, my well-timed faint earning me a place in his arms that I was not keen on relinquishing. I breathed deeply, filling my nose with his rich fragrance, leather and male spice that lingered on the jacket still draped around me. Sweet Scribe, his scent was like nothing I’d ever encountered and I wanted it all over me…inside of me.]

Vishous

As we drove past the long winding driveway to the mansion, sleeping beauty stirred in my arms and slowly regained consciousness. The cop chuckled and looked at her through the rearview mirror “Welcome back, darling” I glared at him in the rearview as he parked and I practically jumped out of the door.

Ione

[Blinking in surprise at his speed, I nearly toppled from the SUV as he shot out from under me, quickly righting myself and extending my hand to be helped from the seat.]

Vishous

-She outstretched her hand and I swear a vein popped in my forehead, grudgingly I offered mine and helped her step down out of the Escalade, my eyes holding Butch’s in a silent “Don’t-even-fucking-say-it” for a millisecond before I closed the door behind her and escorted her up the stairs to the portico colonnade marking the entrance to the manse.  Mercifully, the doggen took that moment to open the door “Mistress Ione, oh thank the Scribe Virgin we…”-

Ione

[I lifted a hand to silence the doggen.] Thank you for your…assistance, warrior. I should like to know your name.

Vishous

-I shrugged- It’s what we do -I cringed inwardly at being trapped into pleasantries, forcing myself to answer.- Name’s, Vishous.

Ione

[Smiling brilliantly, I let the name roll off my tongue on a purr.] Vishous…You’re not unknown to me. [In truth, I’d heard much. The son of the Bloodletter was much spoken of behind hands amongst the females of the Glymera, both in terror and wonder as his exploits made the gossip rounds on the lips of the few who’d once spent time on their knees before him]

Vishous

-I winced, guessing all too easily what she might have heard-

Ione

Forgive me, it would be remiss of me to not return your property. [Dipping the jacket off my shoulders slowly, giving ample view of the curve of my throat, I waited for you to take it]

Vishous

-Moving with such fluid grace I began to wonder if the damsel-in-distress routine wasn’t an act, I rolled my eyes so hard they ached, peeling the worn leather off of you and gathering it into my gloved fist. Fucking female wiles.

Ione

[I watch your shoulders bunch while you pulled the jacket back into place, tongue sliding behind my teeth I took a step closer, catching your lips with mine as the heavy leather settled on your frame and you lifted your head again, palms sliding beneath the worn hide to feel your chest beneath the rich cotton of your shirt]

Vishous

- My nose still itched at the sweet scent that had nothing to do with the powdery fuckers we had handled earlier, this female wore some serious perfume and someone needed to tell her just a few dabs was fi.... I was straightening and turned to be eye level with the female when it happened. Out of the fucking blue she just leaned in and kissed me. KISSED. ME. What the fuck was that? It took me a second to blink in confusion her lips felt foreign on mine, nothing I had grown used to. Nothing like my shellan. In an instant I held her at arm’s length, my brows knitted in confusion but my expression hard and cold. "What the fuck was that?" I heard the gasp coming from the doggen, not that I cared I was focused on the female who thought she had any right to kiss a male that was owned in every which way possible by his shellan.

Ione

It was... a thank you. [I gasped as my heart hammered beneath the thin layer of sequins, unabashedly meeting the icy glow of your eyes, the porcelain fine skin of my shoulders bruising in your crushing grip...and I wanted it. Wanted you. The male before me was phearsom, exuding sex from every pore. Nothing at all like the high-bred males I'd been forced to politely rebuke for the last two centuries] I would like to do it again.

Vishous

- That stopped me in my tracks, I turned slowly to glare at the high and mighty bitch. She stood there like she was the queen of the world waiting for her loyal subjects to bow by her feet. She got another thing coming from this male that was anything but honorable or respectful, for that matter. Her eyes held the edge of a predator seizing her prey, bullshit, the bigger and badder was standing right here.- Like I give a fuck about your traditions. Do me a favor and find someone else to bore with your opinion- I wiped my lips as if the taste was foul- You want to whore around, be my guest, just don't drag me into your ways

Ione

[furrows my delicate brows] Shellan? That is a pity. But surely a warrior of your virility needs be served by more than one female. The old ways are not entirely lost to us, Vishous.

Vishous

My female is all I need. -pinning you with an icy gaze, diamond irises burning with rage, I turned around closing the distance to the Escalade, my nose burning at the perfume wafting up from the leather…Christ, the scent of the female was strong… and now I needed a smoke, badly. At least the dark Turkish stood a chance at overpowering the fetid perfume. I made for the SUV like my ass was on fire, all but jerking the door off its hinges to climb inside. I gunned the engine and in a blur of glossy black, guided us back out onto the road. Even weakened from his hoover impersonation, it took Butch approximately 10 seconds to start dishing out my ration of shit. “Princess got her eye on you, V. You in the market to be a kept man?” He laughed  hoarsely and I rolled my eyes. “Fuck you, cop, princess back there got nothing on my shellan” I glanced over at him, face drawn and glowing a sinister green in the filmy light of the dash.- I just want to get you back to the compound. You’ve looked better, my brother. -Not to mention my female would just be a few steps away and God fucking knew I needed her, nothing tonight had gone as planned. I took out one of my hand-rolleds and searched my jacket for my lighter…where the fuck had I put that thing?

Ione

[watching the leather cling to his powerful thighs as he strode to the SUV, the seething disdain in his words having done nothing to quell the lust thrumming through me...so this warrior was not appreciative of the old ways... perhaps that might be remedied... all I knew was that Vishous was like no male the Glymera had to offer and I wanted more. Staring into the darkness as the glowing red brake lights faded in the distance, I palmed the gold lighter I'd pulled from his coat as I kissed him] I will see you again, warrior. Soon. [with a fanged smile, I pushed open the door and crossed the threshold into the foyer, closing myself inside]
